How old?

How old do you'all think this buck is? He is run down but I hope he makes it to next year. He is under a locust tree eating the dropped pods. I had 181 pics this week at this tree all hours of the day. I have noticed over the years they really hit these trees when the snow and cold start.

I'll guess 3.5 years old.

I've noticed the deer hitting the locust pods hard lately, too.
 
id agree with the 3.5, but it is hard to tell for sure...
and you are right, he does look beat up!
 
I'd guess 4.5.......stub nose, low belly and chest. Hard to tell this time of year, could be older.

Alright. I was thinking 4.5 when I looked at the pic then I read the replys.

I think that is an old buck, how old, not sure...but I doubt he'll ever grow a better rack, he looks grizzled in the face.
 
Just going off this photo, I'd have to agree with those that said he's past his prime.

My gut tells me he's just had a rough go of it during the rut, guns seasons, and ice storms.

Hard to guess age when they look like this guy.
 
I'm going against the grain and saying he's a fairly young warrior with life to live yet. The neck looks too skinny and long for an old brute. I think the ribs and scarring can be attributed to rutting so I'm going with a 3.5 yr.
