Hunters safety classes?

I have a friend who is very interested in beginning to hunt. Am I correct that no matter what age in iowa you have to have taken the hunters safety course? Does anyone know where and when or at least how I can find info on the course for classes around Davenport?

Actually, I think if you were born before 1972 or earlier you don't have to have one unless you plan to hunt out of state.
