Hunting Blind

Here is a picture of a blind that I built for my wife to hunt out of this year. She had a motorcycle wreck in July and sheared the ball off of her shoulder. She has been going thru therapy for 8 weeks and she is getting a little movement back. There is no way she can pull her bow back this year so I bought her a crossbow to hunt with this year. She can not climb in to her stands so I built her a ground blind to hunt from this year. Just thought I would show it off...

Looks great, good work. I presume the windows open though!

Otherwise you may not see very many deer and it might seem sort of dark out there!

Seriously, your wife looks happy and that makes it worth it right there, because that means you can hunt too!

That is a great looking blind. I am sure you just proved to your wife how much she really does mean to you, hopefully she'll get a shot at some deer from it. It looks like it will be warm too!

That is one sweet looking ground blind. That would double for one heck of a fish house up here in MN. LOL! Just remember...that thing is for hunting and nothing else!

Ya know she's going to ask you to move it all the time don't you?

Nice setup, would be great for late muzzleloader season.

Ghost, yes Im going to brush it in better this weekend. we sat in it last night and had 18 does and 1 2 1/2 old buck with in 30 yards and they didnt pay any attention to it. It is sitting along the edge of 5 acre imperial whitetail food plot..

I like that. Would love to build something like that to sit in during gun season with my 10 year old. He get's pretty cold that time of year and that thing would keep him from freezing.

Hang a hammock or put in a cot and bring along the Coleman stove and you'd be set for a three-day stint!

Could also double as an ice fishing house ... just pull it to a pond.

Good luck to your wife for the season and her recovery.

Looks like a cozy place for you two to share some great hunts together. I commend you and your wife for not sitting on the couch letting her injuries get you down. Time spent doing what you both love will make the healing process go much faster. Good luck!

I've considered building one for my kids and I to hunt from, yours looks great. I have a question...or idea that I wondered what everyone thought. While hunting out of a Double Bull I've noticed that the open windows seem to somewhat alarm deer, however, if you leave it out a while they seem to get used to it.

My question is....would it be wise to paint the outside of the windows black or at least dark in color? That way you can keep them up when you are not in it to keep rodents, animals, and bees out and let the deer get accustom to the dark windows. Then there would not be a big difference when they are open? Might be a dumb idea but just thought that I would throw it out for discussion.

My second idea is to plant vining plants around it for cover for years to come, what do ya think?

I think both ideas are great Wayne!

You could put stock pannels with spacers on the outside of the walls and plant a bunch of wild grape vine shoots all around it. Then you could always have a snack too!

Just reach outside the window and grab a handful of grapes!
