Hunting in Windy Conditions?

The forecast is calling for some pretty strong gusts this weekend where I will be hunting in Wisconsin... what are your experiences with hunting in windy conditions? I've had mixed success on windy days... just curious as to everyone's opinion...

I seem to like them better than the dead calm days within reason. I usually stick to hunting close to bedding areas and water sources. You just have to have better senses (hearing and vision) than normal cause they will get close before you hear them.

I shot my bow buck last year in extreme wind. The whole 4 hours I sat there saying in my head" this is retarded, I can't hear, my tree is almost bent in half, and there is no way the deer are gonna move" well 4 hours into the hunt as I was about to call it quits, here came a whole herd of bucks chasing a doe. The only thing nice about wind is you can get away with a little more noise and I've noticed you really don't have to worry about scent as much, goodluck

It's good for people who can't sit still, but it always seems to me that the deer movement slows down a little when it is windy. Only take the close shots and you should be fine.

i myself use a windy day trying to put on a "spot and stalk". this is my fav type of hunting, windy or rainy, because i love to "spot and stalk". liv4rut is right, i have also learned from the past that scent control for some odd reason don't mean a lot on real windy days, and with it blowing hard you can get away with more noise, so walking around is a litle easier on these days. GOOD LUCK
