My dad & I have put in for bowhunting in Zone 3 and I was wondering if anyone had any experiance hunting this area. Also, i believe we are hunting on public land. thanks in advance.
a litte tip for you nonresidents looking for info. put in a couple town names, and/or county names. alot of us have no idea how the state is zoned for nonresidents
sorry, didn't relize that. I know Council Bluff is one town in Zone 3. Zone 3 runs from the west to southwest part of the state. I believe we be near the NE line.
no problem bro. people keep tossing out all these zones, and i have no idea where the "eff" they are talking about. we get state wide tags.
plus, can't help you too much, sounds like zone 3 is outta my area. but its in iowa, so there will be one or two deer for ya
thanks guys, since it's our first year putting in, i figure the chances are slim getting picked. In a way i hope i don't get picked, we are planning to leave Oct 30 for a week then on the way back dad will drop me off in southern IL so i can hunt a week with a buddy. Not sure i could handle having 2 weeks of great hunting. It will just kill me to come home and hunt these little deer.
AR34,
A buddy told his wife he wouldnt get a draw in zone 3 two years in a row,boy she was pissed when he drew again last year.Hes a lucky s.o.g. he sees some great bucks on private land along a park you cant hunt in.
thanks guys, yeah it seems your does are about the size of our good bucks. A mature buck avg. around 150 and a doe around 100. Around here it's all steep country with very little good farm land so it's not good for growing great deer.
Wanab.c.,
a guy i work with got picked 2 years in a row too. I guess some are just lucky.
how hard is it to get permission to hunt priviate land. i hear most land is leased. I was looking at the state land, seems most is open areas. thanks everyone for the input.
