I was wondering if anyone has heard about a deer

weighing in about 400lbs in MO. I was talking to another bowhunter at work and he was telling me about this. The thinking is it might be a heybred of a standard whitetail with a mule deer. Has anybody heard anything similiar or know more information?

Thanks for the site. I wish it had some more information though. Like where he shot it at, Odd looking thing.

I live close to the channel that aired the story and it looked like a red stag/deer by the footage. Likely a captive escapee that was shot. Word to the wise, they will shoot anything in MO even if it does not resemble a whitetail.

I dont see how mule deer ever got mixed up in this one. Thats a wierd looking animal. Maybe a llama got a hold of a doe.

In 1991 I was checking my deer in and a guy pulls up in line behind us and says he's got a weird one in the back of his pickup. Long story short is that he shot a female Kudu that had escaped from an exotic game ranch. He shot it over 300 yards away while it was feeding in a field with five other does. He said he thought he was shooting a really big doe.

Did that Kudu come from the Exotic game ranch just to the east of you Rack on I44? I guess you are in a safe part of the state, more urban area than redneck. Just south of you though, Ozark, MO, come some real hillbillies. I knew several from there while going to College in Columbia.

Hey, I resemble that remark!!!!

Shredder it is sad but true. There is a guy at my work that eats opossum and all that hillbilly crud associated with the Ozarks. I mean this guy works at being a hillbilly. These are the kind of people you have to look out for. They now no season or limits and especially they don't know their target half the time. Funny thing is they are all great shots. I guess practice makes perfect.

Hey quackmaster, is it true that everybody in arkansas has an Uncle Leroy and it is the same guy, hence you are all related? Sorry man, I could not resist.

Yeah I have seen it to quackmaster. Good thing I am an Iowa native though, I have a lot of genetic diversity. I would not mind however making a few deposits in the gene bank here, a lot of nice tellers around.

Shreddar, I was at the check in station in Buffalo Mo. north of Springfield when the Kudu came in. I suppose it was shot somewhere near there. Hey, take my word for it, Rednecks are all over these parts. (Where's the graemlin drinking moonshine and holding the Rebel flag?)

That reminds me of a deer that was killed by a car outside of town here last year. Very long hair on the neck, short legs, odd antlers, color and tail. Some said hybred. Most said game farm escapee. I never did here the final verdict.

150 Class, that looks very much like a Sika deer stag. We have wild sika's on the Eastern Shore of MD, I have seen the little deer many times, and your roadkill looks just like them.?????
