Has anyone ever shot these mechanicals?
I was on vacation in TN (hunting of course) and I realized that I should probably get more broadheads (as if a quiver full was not enough) so I set out to find some 125 spitfire or shockwaves. For some reason, not one outfitter had 125 mechanicals. Of course, they had fixed blade 125's but that was it. I did some calling around and eventually a place said they had 125 shockwaves. So I get their, and what they had were called hypershock. I figured what the heck and picked them up. Why wouldn't I give a blade with a 2 3/4" cutting diameter a chance.
So, since I've bought them, I've only had a chance to shoot one time. At 25 yards, I put one in the boilermaker on a mature doe. What I noticed is that they don't open completely on impact, rather open as they pass through. Needless to say, the exit hole was massive. Yup... it's 2 3/4" alright. Easiest blood trial I've ever followed.
My question is though, if anyone has ever shot them consistently and at a distance greater than 25 yards. How well do they fly? One thing I did notice is that the blades need replaced after just once use
