even with the banquet i figured there'd at least be a small booth there for people who wanted to sign up. i agree with you two.

I totally agree!!! I brought a buddy who is a long time bowhunter who doesn't belong to the IBA. I was telling him all the reasons why he must join as we were walking around and we never did find a booth to sign him up.

This just floored me!A friend walked up to me saturday at the classic,he had a buddy of his with him who was going to join the IBA.First thing out of his mouth was "NO IBA BOOTH!! So that was two new memberships! Will they still join? I hope so! I"ve been a member of IBA a long time. Iam now a lifetime member.Somebody made a real bad decision on tis one!!

Re: Time for some new leadership!!?

Come on guys, how about a little slack. We had board members and area reps who came from all over the state Fri. night to get ready for the banquet.
Getting live & silent auctions ready, getting trophy mounts up for veiwing, semiars to get ready, annual general membership meeting, awards program and a hundred others details nobody thinks about.
This has always been Spring Banquet weekend, just last year the Classic moved weekends. There are only so many people who will help out and it's almost impossible to man both events with people.Have to say I didn't see too many people standing around this weekend doing nothing. We can always use more help!!Sorry if you think we were sherking on our jobs.

Re: Time for some new leadership!!?

i too was dissappointed to not see an IBA booth. i would think it may have been easier to get a booth manned, since so many members were in town. plus, with the support the IBA gets from iowawhitetail, and iowadeer, that, at the minimum, the IBA could have had some info or even just one rep, in one of, or even both of the booths. it seems a shame that with so many hunters in one area, that they would miss an opportunity to get the word out about their organization. i was going to sing up at the show (if i had enough cash left over) but i didn't have the chance. i'm not a lost member, i will join soon, but think of the potential membership they lost out on. just watch the new members file in here, and at iowadeer, all from show exposure

I wanted to sign up too. I would be willing to sit at the booth next year if you need the help! I'm sure there would be plenty of help if the IBA needed it.

Re: Time for some new leadership!!?

We signed up quite a few members at the Iowawhitetail.com booth. I'm a area rep for them and talked IBA most of the weekend at the classic. I sold about 10 more tickets to the spring banquet while I was there. There was a rather large color banner at the I.W. booth, also Mid Iowa Archers reps were present talking about the club and the IBA. Iowawhitetail is always happy and willing to sign up IBA members. We had a large booth at the Sport Show and signed up a lot of members. Last weekend we had our banquet, it takes a lot of hard working volunteer's to run it. We also had board meetings on Sat. and our banquet that evening, plus events all day Fri, and Sat. If you stopped by the Iowawhitetail booth there should have been someone there to sign you up.

Go easy guys,

I was at the banquet and it was obvious that there was a small amount of people accomplishing a large amount of work.

I would urge those of you that were looking to sign up some people to go to the IBA's website and print off an application form for your friends. Best $20.00 you'll spend towards your hunting.

I was overly impressed with the working relationship the IBA has with Iowa DNR Wildlife guys. When it comes to protecting your future in the deer timber, I'm telling ya, the IBA is where it's at!

Re: Time for some new leadership!!?

Sounds like lack of advertising to me. If there had been posts or threads about IBA sign up at IWT booth you guys would have signed up alot more members. maybe for both IBA and IWT. Watch out for next year!!!! I predict record memberbship!!!!

Re: Time for some new leadership!!?

good idea bonker. next year a booth that held one more floor area could be great for both organizations!! should start looking into it early.

Re: Time for some new leadership!!?

The last two years the classic has fallen on the same weekend as our banquet. It takes a great deal of hard work and planning to put together our Spring Banquet. We had booth's the last two years at the classic and did'nt sign up very many members there. Too many other places to spend your money I guess? Like limb said, you can always get your membership at the I.W. company store, visit your local archery shop, or visit the IBA's web site at www.iowabowhunters.org. We are all donating our time to the IBA, we are compensated in no way other than the fact we are trying to make sure bow hunting will be around for our grandkids to enjoy in this great state. We are always looking for area reps and volunteers, please contact your local are rep or board member, or send us a pm.
Thank you

Re: Time for some new leadership!!?

We did have information at the booth this year but ran out on Saturday. Our plan was to represent and talk about the IBA as best we could but truthfully we were overwhelmed with the crowds etc (and all those big sheds in the bone yard

)

Hopefully next year we can have ajoining booths as some have suggested.

Re: Time for some new leadership!!?

Thanks to Chad and Chris and to all spreading the word of the IBA at the classic!! We are always looking for people to dedicate a whole weekend to sit in a booth,or helping at an event. We have had a great influx of new blood into the IBA and it can only make a good thing better!
