Ice fisherman falls through, dies

NORTH LOUP, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a Grand Island man died after falling through ice while ice fishing at Davis Creek Reservoir in central Nebraska.

Chief Darryl Jorgensen, of the North Loup Volunteer Fire Department, said that other anglers saw the man fall through the ice on Tuesday evening. They pulled him out and tried to resuscitate him.

A rescue squad took him to a hospital in Ord, where he died.

His name has not been released, pending notification of family.

Wow and I always thought that falling through the ice would be the absolute worse way to go. Shows that it is always a good idea to only go out a few feet and drill a hole or two to make sure the ice is at least 4 inches thick. Me, I don't feel safe unless I know it is at least 6.
