This corner of Iowawhitetail will never be the same since we lost our friend to his creator. He will live on through countless acres of habitat, food plot improvements, and knowledge he has thanklessly shared. The land and the people he has touched are all better because of Paul. Paul Laverne Knox, 58, of Birmingham, Iowa died at 5:30 A.M. Sunday November 30, 2014 at home from Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). He was born August 30, 1956 in Pensacola, FL to Donald and Jane Seelye Knox and married Lori DeTavernier on August 26, 1978 in North Branch, Michigan.
Paul lived most of his life in Michigan and moved to Iowa in 2004. He was a member of Zion Bible Church, and a featured speaker and writer on OutreachOutdoors.com, IowaWhitetail.com, Quality Deer Management Association and Michigan Sportsman.
Paul lived his life passion through his business Dbltree Habitat Enhancement and sharing his Christian faith. He generously gave of his knowledge, skills, time and support to anyone in need, whether family, friend or stranger.
Surviving are his wife Lori, and son Jesse of Birmingham, his mother Jane Knox of Lapeer, MI, three sisters, Cheryl Woody (Gary) of Columbiaville, MI, Julie Knox (Mark Swearingen) of Redmond, WA and Beth Knox (Jim Maier) of Issaquah, WA, a brother, Clint Knox (Jennifer) of Athol, ID. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Knox
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Zion Bible Church, 15918 Hwy 16 East, Douds, with Pastor Blake Rispens officiating. Visitation will open at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 12245 Jasmine Ave, Birmingham, IA 52535
