In the woods or on the edge of fields?

depends on where the turkey is for me, if he is deep in woods in the morning i will be trying to close the gap between us, if he is fairly close to the fields i will sit there, my favorite place to sit is on alfalfa fields, seems like they always go there sooner or later during the day, they can be harder to call in acrossed a huge field though, but i like sitting along fields, they are just easier to set up on and not scare every bird around trying to walk through the woods in the dark

both work for me. i like to set up in timber and on fields about equally. actually, fields make me happier because that way i usually see birds even if they won't respond to the calling. either way you look at it a bad day of turkey hunting is better than a good day of work.

I have shot more gobblers on field edges, so I would have to say I like hunting and setting up there more. It is just easier to get to an area and set up without spooking them. Like Muddy said, I like being able to see birds in the fields even if they aren't running to my calls.

Field edges probably produce more birds, but there's absolutely nothing like the thunder of a gobble echoing through the heavy timber at close range. I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it
