I've read several posts on people building their own trail cams. This sounds very interesting and I would like to try it. I seen that Hag's house was mentioned for parts but I didn't see a list of everything required to build one or all of the essential components such as the camera, board, or case etc.... Can someone offer some info that will get me on track. Vman how much do you charge to build your cameras and can I get some info on them. Is there a list out there and directions on how to build them???? I bought a Cuddeback a few months ago and I am now hooked!!! I think it would be cool to build a couple.

Thanks

Sony P41 in my opinion is the best camera. I use Pelican 1060's for my cases.
There are many Boards:
Hags House will be coming out with the BG2 shortly.
I just tried two YetiCam Boards.
There is also Snapshot Sniper Boards.
Here are some websites:

Being too lazy to do the research myself, what can one expect to have in a home built camera in the way of $$$$? I realize that most of building your own is the satisfaction of the project and a person can probably build one that has features that only high end commercial systems have. Still, I'd like to see a comparison of the cost of a home built versus commercially available systems.

I standing right on the edge of the cliff and only need a little encouragement to take the leap.

There is alot that goes into building your first cam. After that its all uphill. The Hardest part is opening up that new camera and hacking it. You have to get over the what it I fry it problem. &^rocket &^rocket..

A good home brew can be built for under $250 if you have all the tools. If not the first one can cost more. There are lots of options and camera price is the largest part of building a unit. Ive seen some digitals made for under $200. Mine cost a little more to build, but they are top notch.

If you serious about building one look hard at hags, i know alot of this can be intimadating at first, but all the informations is the there.

Good luck to anybody that tries one, its easier than you think.

Vman hit it right on the head. My first one cost nearly 290 and I have been able to keep them under 250 with the cost of the camera being the largest input. These are top notch cameras. You could use older or less desirable cameras and save their as well. Also I have teamed up with other Whitetailers to save on shipping and time. Pete is in charge of the cases on the cameras we're working on now and I am doing the hack and board setup. I have done these with a couple other members here and think it just adds positively to the process.
