while turkey hunting i came across this deer leg hanging in the fence. there was a few vertebre and a lower jaw in the grass, otherwise the coyotes had it all cleaned up. i found a deer skull about 300 yards from this site, i assume it was the same because it was a VERY small hoof and jaw and the skull was also very small. bummer, yet unique, sort of find.

Muddy, I found one last fall that was a doe kinda like that.Except she musta misjudged the jump and landed on the metal post.It skewered her through her hind quarter and she musta hung like that for awhile before she died.Nature can be a cruel b@#$% sometimes cant she

My interesting find was a couple of years ago in Iowa.....A small buck had jumped a fence and got his leg hung up in a coyote snare. It was staked into the ground with a 12-15 inch piece of rebar...well the deer got that pulled out no problem and as he ran across the field, the remaining wire and rebar tied both back feet together like a steer roper. The corn stalks in the 20 yard radius were destroyed down to the dirt and the buck must have died from exhaustion and stress. Sad find and a cruel death in my opinion...nature can be really rough on these animals.

I have found a few of those. The first was one like the one you found, Muddy. Most others were dead too but had not been dead too long. The last one was still alive, similar to the one above. It didn't make it.

PS - Not my picture. If memory serves me right, I think TLH took this one a few years ago.
