Internet Trail Cam

I was looking through my redhead archery catelog i just received and they have a trail cam that sends your trial cam pictures to your email. Anyone heard anything about these and if they are worth it? Looks like a lot to get setup and kind of pricey, but if you can stay out of the woods that much longer without disturbing anything. What else are they going to come up with? A alarm that goes off when you have a deer aproaching your stand.

I saw info on that product 18 months ago. I love the idea. Im going to get in contact with the owner and see what I can find out. The best part fo this product is that you will know who is stealing your trail cams!!! That is worth the extra money spent.

Are you talking about the cell phone cam? IF so I think its a waste of money. Power will be a problem, monthly service fees for phone usage. And you have to have a spotlight turned on to get good night photos.

Nice, but no thanks.

Just my 2 cents.

VMAN,
It is called the E-buck cam but you must have t-mobile in your area and pay a $100 for a 3 month prepaid phone card. Might be the same thing just a little different. This one has a choice of white or infrared lighting and a solar charged battery. Can get notificaton by email or text message or take pictures,(leading to me live footage) at that moment from your computer while viewing your cam. I am reading this right out of the magazine.

Not to mention the potential legal ramifications of instant information that will allow you to see it, grab your weapon of choice, then go kill it.

I love technology, but this is borderline to me.

Bonker,
I think there is a place for this kind of technology. Mainly law enforcment.

Trail cams are great, so are treestands, pop up blinds and so on. This is in my mind crossing the line and in the ridiculous category in my books. I mean here it is not even possible for such a contraption b/c of connections and coverage but to be honest, the technological differences in deer hunting today and that of yesterday are so far apart it isn't funny. Equally as far apart are the differences once you cross the border heading north. In a month or so when i get one, I'll be the only guy I know who actually owns a trail camera.

I saw this on the outdoor channel last fall and the first thing that came to my mind was poaching.

www.smartscouter.com has an internet trail camera. i think the price is around $500 and the monthly fee when active is aound $20, which beat the time and money spent traveling to your deer woods a coulple times a week

Traveling to the deer woods in only a 20 minute walk from my house, so it still wouldnt save me time and money, but maybe for the people that travel 2-3 hrs to get to their hunting spot it would be good.

I like the idea of being able to download pics from your trail cam on your PC, so as to avoid disturbing the deer, but the implications of instant notification that a big buck is in your area are quite unsettling.
