Invisible Fencing

Does anyone use this? I have like 500 linear foot of yard to fence and it will cost a frickin fortune to do it up right. Who uses it and how do you like it? Any draw backs or brands to recommend?

My dad tried the electric fencing that you bury the line. I have seen it work for some people it definately depends on the dog. My dads dumb a$$ dog would run as fast as it could for the fence and start yelping about twenty feet before the flags knowing it was going to get shocked but it didn't matter it would pretty much do it on a daily basis.

Like Baggin mentioned, it depends on the dog.

A guy at work has one. The collar gives off warning beeps when close, then zaps as they get closer.

His dog would approach until the collar started beeping, lay down, wait for the battery to expire from the beeping and then make a break. Smart dog, huh.

I installed approx. 2000' around my yard and it works great. I went to the local equipment rental place here and they carry a fence installer. The machine is made specifically for this purpose it digs the trench buries the wire and covers it back up. Took me about an hour and a half to do mine.

Make sure you read the instructions and follow the dog training rules with the flags and such. I have two german shorthairs, one will not get near the fence and the other will test it all the time just depends on the personality of the dog.
I bought all my stuff through pet safe, they have been very helpful. The dogs chewed up the one collar and they replaced it free no questions asked.

Good luck and if you have any questions let me know.

I have used a petsafe fence about 5 years. I would recommend a deluxe model with adjustable setting for the collar, little more expensive but worth the money.

What about this innotek system that cabelas has. It is like $279.00. It has a smaller collar that is rechargeable, a wireless monitor that goes inside your house that lets you know if he is going through the fence? Anyone know about these?

Supertec,
I can't remember what model I purchased, I believe it was the middle of the road one. The dogs collars are not adjustable but the fence transmitter has a adjustable shock and beep sensor on it. I have it set so that when the dogs get within 8' of the fence they start hearing a slow beep and as the get closer the beep gets louder and more frequent. If the block head doesn't stop at that they then get the shock. I noticed that when my dogs here the first beep they immediatly change direction. Every now and then the dogs have a brain fart for instance they get very excited when the kids get off the bus and charge to the end of the driveway all of a sudden they are moving to fast to stop when they here the first beep

Make sure that you ground the unit because my buddy had lightening mess his up. Also when twisting the wire I used a cordless drill with a propeller in the chuck, attach one wire to one end of the propeller and the other wire to the other end, this makes it very easy, then slowely start the drill in either direction. Good luck and if you need anything give me a buzz 734-429-9682.
