Has this had any good effect in deterring crime in this state? I have religiously carried a concealed pistol in Oklahoma following the El Paso Walmart shooting. I would lawfully pack a handgun in Iowa as well religiously. The law in Iowa needs to get much tougher on crime and drugs. A large dog is a good crime deterrent, but a firearm prudently backs the hound up. As a rule, permit-less states have become generally safer because the criminal elements can only guess who might be packing on the streets. Removing permit requirements gives more law-abiding Americans a greater incentive to conceal carry. I hope the Hawkeye State is not defunding law enforcement. I hate drugs and meth around me too.
