Iowa's shotgun seasons are getting under way and the staff at Iowawhitetail wants to wish everyone a great hunt! With the snow cover in most of the state and tremendous antler growth from this spring we should see a record harvest this year in both quantity and quality.
If you are hunting in an area that has high deer numbers consider harvesting a few does instead of younger bucks to help balance the deer herd's sex ratio and insure the carrying capacity of the land offers sufficient cover and nutrients over the stressful winter months.
Your return will be a healthier deer herd in the future with more mature bucks for us to chase in the fall
