Iowawhitetail Facebook page

Also, if there are images that some of you guys don't want on there let me know and I will delete them. I used photos from past harvest posters to start the album.

I'm not much of a facebook guy, but I will give a thumbs up on there once in awhile. I bet it brings a lot of good publicity to this sight. Good idea.

Suggest the page to all your friends! The more people we get the more can make fun of Thomas Allen... :way:

And... muddy get a page!

In my mind it seems kind of lame for a guy over 40 to have a Facebook page............Give me reasons why it is not lame :D

Although I do understand some businesses having a Facebook page.

Remember when a "friend" was a person you actually cared about and if you wanted to know how they are, you called them or went to see them? Since when did everyone care what everyone was up to at all times? There is no privacy anymore and sites like facebook are making people socially retarded. Not that you probably would, but please don't post pics from me on there. Also, if I had kids I would not want pics of them on an open site like that either. A lot of creeps out there and facebook is their new shopping mall. Too bad such a great site like this feels the need to go over to the dark side. Not to mention this will give even more fuel and temptation for rich NR to buy up more of our land:mad:

When you setup your account you actually dictate who can see what you post. You actually get to choose who is your facebook friend and who isnt. Its a goodway to find new friends just like this sight is.Also its a way for people that have lost touch over the years to reconnect.I suppose you can use it however you want but not just anyone can see what you are doing.Anything you post on this sight is open to the public,Even if they have to pay a 16 dollar membership.

Interesting view and one I can understand because I once felt the same way. I can tell you after joining that you can lock down your profile so no one can even search for you. You have to friend them. I keep up to date with people I have lost touch with and enjoy talking to them again. It really isn't evil... :D

The only reason I asked about the images part of it is due to the fact that I had an archive of images that were sent to me to be on the 06 and 07 iowawhitetail.com harvest poster and I posted them to just get some images up. No names are on them.

I appreciate your feedback. :way:

So if I want to know whats going on at iowawhitetail I now have to go to iowawhitetail.com and iowawhitetail facbook:confused:

breiner is correct. The security on that site is a joke. Do not post anything you believe is personal ie kids photos, real addresses, pics of your home, etc.

Cooter it is more of an ad for the regular site here, not another board for information. Mainly there to draw others over here

Jclaws hit the nail right on the head. You post your pictures, name, kids names, stories, what town or county you live in on this site and as far as I know nobody has had any problems. Anyone can type in www.iowawhitetail.com and check out your profile or what you've said. I'd be more worried about not shredding my bills than getting on facebook.

What's to be gained by putting this site on facebook? I understand that you can lock everyone out but friends. But how is IowaWhitetail going to screen what is shown on facebook? What kind of people do you hope to draw to this site? It's getting to be senseless to have a specialty site. Might as well just have facebook!

facebook, like it or not, is an excellent marketing tool. not only is it excellent but its free. I can only assume that the facebook page is hoped to network out to others that are passionate about hunting, and may not know about the iowawhitetail site. generating more hits for the site, and possibly members, benefiting the site. it could also link members of this site in another form.

One of the best features of facebook is it's voluntary usage :p

And also as said before, there are settings that allow you to disclose the amount of information you want, and a friendship is accepted by both parties.

I'm not saying facebook is for everyone, but I can only assume this post is to let IW memebers who use facebook know that there is now a page, and not to discuss the horrors of social networking :moon:

Please elaborate. Did you have a personal experience with your account?
