Is it time?

When does everyone plan to start putting the cameras out? I am waiting until our turkey season finishes this week and shrooms are done. Less people in woods after that and less damaged or stolen cams. Only idiots like me out in the hot summer

Yes, I pull all my cams after the majority of the bucks are shed out.

I need a small break from running cams and I focus on shed hunting, turkey hunting, mushrooms and fishing.

My cams will go back out at the end of May and I will be back at it for another 9 months.

I've seen four bucks so far with the start of some velvet nubs coming on, so it won't be long before my cam comes out. Darned skeeters are going to suck this year though, its been a wet one.

I have seen numerous bucks with 1-4 inches of development. I have one cam out now and I am sure the rest will be going out here shortly.

I had one of mine stolen during turkey season last year. So i too like to wait until turkey/mushroom season is over.

I had mine out by fathers day last year. I will probably start about then this year. I have seen over 100 deer in the last two days within 200 yards and havent seen a nub yet. Maybe MN is a little behind IA on the antler development?

I will start about fathers day, slowly.

I saw a couple pop can like stumps sticking out of a bucks head just yesterday.

The oldest boy said it was a baby buck, he's not old enough to get the sermon from his dad.

Me too. 5 running together with similar features

Found a dead buck two days ago in Andrew County (MO) just north of Interstate 29 that had been struck by a car. He already had grown out approximately 3-4 inches above his ears.
Nice mass, too, even though they all look heavy to me in velvet.

It was obvious where the split was starting to develope into brow tines. In simple terms, he was going to probably be a dandy. Too bad, even though I have no ground to hunt in the area. Most likely he was a 3 or 4 year old...

My cams run almost year around - unless I can't get to them to change batteries & change out memory

If you look close, you can see antler nubs on all three of the bucks in this group, so they're starting to grow them.

I also got a picture of some guy we don't know on the land last week with a big heapin bag of mushrooms. At least my camera was still there. The nerve of some people.

I was also wandering, how much antler growth would a bigger deer have at this point in the year. Of the three in the picture I just posted, the one on the left is obviously the youngest, but the one in the middle is a little blurred, so it's hard to tell how much antler is there. If it's gonna be a bigger buck, do you think that they would be at the point where the antlers are splitting, or do bucks just grow at different rates?
