It finally happened

I went to retreive my video camera the other day and it is gone. I'm assuming a possible pheasant hunter?? What do people gain from doing this?

A video camera and a guilty concience........I am thinking or rigging up one of those personal alarms that squelch so loud to damn near kill your hearing to the door on mine.....

That sucks. I was considering pulling my cameras with the upcoming gun season at hand. Shedder have you lost one as well? I think I have been pretty lucky so far. The eight foot phython cable locks may help as well.

Tracker,
I know how you feel...I think I might have been the first one on the block to get one stolen, back in August.

Ironwood...take my advice and get that camera before gun season. I had a DB blind out last year and decided it'd be OK on private ground during the first weekend of shotgun season. I was wrong.

I know the feeling............

I had a Cuddeback stolen this year. Not sure what the person is going to do with it since its got a password programmed in it.............

Sorry for your loss Tracker, what a bummer.

Don K-
At least you have the minor satisfaction of knowing they cant use it either. I think that would make me feel a little better. So how does that password thing work? If they call the company claiming to have forgotten the password will the company know who it belongs to by serial #'s??

Timberpig,

The password is a 5 number deal you program into the camera. You cannot access the camera to get it to work (other than pull out your memory card) unless you put in the proper numbers.
When you get the camera (new) you program in your name and phone numbers inside along with the password.

I called Cuddeback as soon as it was missing. They took my information down and will be looking for the camera. The guy said they catch people when they call in and try to figure out how to get it to work. Im not sure if they have the person send the camera to them so they could fix it or how they get them to send it back. I was hoping it would show up but it hasnt. Probably ended up in the garbage after they couldnt get it to work.

What I find hard to believe on my camera is it was on private property and was back in a swamp. It wasnt where one could see it very well and it was (what I thought) hidden well. Ive never had people out here on this farm before but they managed to find it, cut the lock and cable and remove it off the tree.........

Thanks for the info Don, I was just curious. Sounds like you might have some hope of getting it back anyway.

Perhaps coon hunters stumbled past it in the dark? Pretty easy to spot when the flash goes off. Good luck, hope both of you get your equipment back in one piece.

Tracker, Sorry to here about the Cam! That is one of my biggest fears! Was it locked up?? Was it close to your house?? I will keep my ears open in case someone slips up!! Later T$

No, no lock on it. I had it just north of the house. I THOUGHT it was safe ground..... the other cameras go on ground where the owners know who is on it all the time. T$ your fenceline buddy was hunting over there. Do you think he saw anything?

I joined the crowd over the gun season, I too thought it was on safe ground. Only a Non-typical 35mm but still mad, ohh well time to join the digital revolution

And to think 4 years ago the dude walked by the camera!! - his head , he was to close to the camera!! Lucky ME!!

Ironwood, I have not had one stolen yet but imagine it will happen sooner or later.

I would suspect that a night time passer by (coon hunters) may have gotten flashed and got nervous about trespassing fines.

Good luck in finding it thru the company
