Yesterday afternoon the first deer I saw was about as perfect 8 as anyone could ask for at 100 yards. Long, tall, even, and long brows. He was 150" fer sure.

I hope I don't regret it

but I let him go in hopes of downing one of the booners I've seen. I know it's kind of a personal preference but what would you have done??..

a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush...i'd have smoked him. of course i'm still sitting on 3 tags too!! good luck with finding a post season booner!!

Hey there's nothing better than meeting or exceeding a personal goal. Good luck! I hope you can hold out for one of them.

rule of thumb - never pass on a deer that you would be happy with the last day of the year!!

You set a goal and stuck to it. That's what it takes. I would of done the same. Be happy just to spend the time in the pursuit.

Moosehunter, If you get one of those big boys be careful around the antlers. I've seen and heard of three good bucks that popped one or both antlers when they hit the ground in second season.
All three were good bucks.

If this is ground that he is fairly protected and you can recover the sheds this winter, I'd wait.150 this year, maybe a booner next year.
