Well it's that time again when all NR's can apply for their chance to draw for the coveted Iowa Deer License.

This year there is yet another way to apply and that is online. Yes you heard it right folks you can apply online at www.wildlifelicense.com Of course there is a convenience fee of $2.00 plus 2.5% of the total purchase will be added to your total and you may use MasterCard, Visa or E-Check to pay for your license. For those not wanting to go the 21st century route you may also apply by phone and wait on hold listening to soothing music for about one hour. That soothing music number is 1-800-367-1188.

This year I do not want to get a archery tag for zone 4 but would like to get a point so that I have two for 05 which should lock up a tag for me. From the license PDF it looks like I could apply for an archery tag in zone 6 which gives out 280 tags and had 654 applicants last year. Can anyone that hunt that zone confirm that it would almost be imposible to draw a tag there with one point. I would hate to take a tag away from someone else when I don't even have a spot to hunt in that zone. Any help would be great.

10pt, nothing is for sure. just when you figure you don't stand a chance at a tag, you will draw. i would apply for the zone that gives you the worst chance. although if you already have a perf. point. you may draw this year. i wish they had a deal for the guys who just what the point only. kind of the way wi has for their bear license lottery. good luck.... hopefully you don't draw..i guess.....
