Jake or Mature Tom, which decoy?

Need your help guys. I'm a new Turkey hunter trying to figure it all out and trying not to break the bank at the same time.
What would be more useful, a Jake decoy or a Mature Tom such as the Pretty Boy or B-Mobile?
Which one and what decoy is better then the others?
It seems the stores all carry the same brands so I'd almost prefer something less traditional if at all possible, (if for no other reason then just to be different). /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif
Any help and direction is greatly appreciated.

I have personally had better luck with strutting decoys opposed to jakes, but I think every turkey is different. I also think once 4th season rolls around every turkey out there has seen them and is pretty shy towards the strutting decoys. I hunt mainly public ground, so maybe it would be different with less hunting pressure.

Like LIV said, every turkey is different. My plan of attack this year is to start next week (Nebraska Bow) with a couple of hens. Then work my way up to a jake, and then about three weeks from now use a full strutter.

As to what to purchase??? If you buy a B-Mobile or a Pretty Boy you could change out the fan and the beard with a little ingenuity...and you get both a Jake or a Tom. Not sure if I answered your question, but hope it helps.

Knock on Wood,
Take your full strut decoy and two if you got em. The birds over there are still in their winter flocks and will run to them... Trust me... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

This certainly helps and things are starting to come together. I'll be hunting Nebraska starting April 20th. Can't wait for the games to begin.

dc240nt,
Sorry I didn't mean to speak directly to Knock on Wood. I have had great luck with the pretty boy decoys. I love the full strut decoys!

Thanks to both of you /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif I will be taking my B-Mobile then as well.

How many hen decoys? I was thinking three...

We usually put out one or two pretty boys and then 4 hens. It is a lot of crap to carry but seems to be pretty effective.
