Buck and Cabela's Introduce Shockey Knives

LAS VEGAS-- Buck Knives and Cabela's, working with popular outdoor personality Jim Shockey, have created the new Jim Shockey Signature Series line of knives, all made in the USA. The six innovative designs, ranging from a handy caping knife to a full-tang fixed blade hunting knife, will be available in Spring 2010, exclusively from Cabela's.

The new line will be displayed at a Press Conference at the SHOT Show on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. in the Buck Knives Booth, #12013.

"When Cabela's approached me about a Signature line of hunting knives by Buck, I decided to put my name on a knife for the first time ever," said Jim Shockey, professional big-game outfitter and well-known hunter. "These true professionals share my goal of delivering an affordable series of knives that will perform in the toughest field conditions. I'm proud to introduce the same knives I trust out here, where it counts."

Among features that set the Shockey knives apart from the competition is their use of high quality Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel blades, providing extra hardness and strength, coated with black oxide for added corrosion resistance. Handles are upgraded with special qualities appropriate for each model. The Shockey logo on the blade ensures you are getting all the benefits of this exclusive knife series. Prices will range from $35 to $75.

Fannin 160-- Innovative design keeps this tough caper, with a 1-7/8-inch talon blade, close and ready for anything. The steel handle has a 3-inch two-tone 550 cord with a monkey knot. Injection molded nylon sheath features a quick-release attachment.

Impala I 482-- A solid lockback, with a 3-inch drop-point blade and black reinforced nylon handle. One-handed opening. Molle-compatible sheath is crafted from black nylon molded foam. Includes diamond-coated sharpener.

Impala II 484-- A compact lockback, with a 2-3/4-inch drop-point blade and black reinforced nylon handle. One-handed opening. Molle-compatible sheath is crafted from black nylon molded foam. Includes diamond-coated sharpener.

Oryx 433-- A small, lightweight, one-hand-opening lockback, with a 2-7/8-inch drop-point blade and black thermoplastic handle with grip tape for sure-handed security. Molle-compatible sheath is crafted from black nylon molded foam. Includes diamond-coated sharpener.

Ibex 112-- A rugged, yet lightweight (just 3.4 oz.) lockback, with a 3-inch clip blade and black PaperStone handle. Molle-compatible sheath is crafted from black nylon molded foam. Includes diamond-coated sharpener.

Tsiu 475-- This full-tang fixed-blade knife has a 3-1/2-inch drop-point blade and black Dymondwood handle textured for a sure grip. Molle-compatible sheath is crafted from black nylon molded foam. Includes diamond-coated sharpener.

I don't think I could buy anything that Jim Shockey endorses, he has just sold himself to anyone that approaches him lately it seems.

I do enjoy his show, he's shot some big animals, and he's probably a decent enough person but dang every other commercial has his smiling jack face on it and it's almost as annoying as the cuddeback guy!

So........... I got a couple of Buck knives. Since they don't have Shockey's name on them and I paid less than $35, am I to understand that they won't hold an edge and I need to throw them away?

Glad to see Shockey has made revolutionary design improvements on one of the oldest tools known to man, that should be worth the extra $$ right there.

This wide spread "hunter celebrity" endorsement and commercialization is pure crap in my opinion. Caveat Emptor.

That man just keeps revolutionizing the industry with new and innovative products, how in the world does he do it???

I bet in Canada they have a Jim Shockey Brand Cereal, soft drink, and energy bar. Something else he would trust his life on and we should too. Sorry guys, just poking fun.

I'd start buying the stuff if it came with my very own Jim Shockey series signature black cowboy hat and beautiful Kentucky waterfall black mullet.

Let's see...the guy's willing to allow his name to be used on anything and everything, and in exchange, makes enough money to allow him to spend his entire life hunting. Freakin' genious if you ask me :p

I've always sworn by Buck knives and at least 3 of the 5 knives I keep in or attached to my hunting pack are Bucks, as are the majority of my collection. However, I can't see paying any extra costs for these just because his name is attached. Buck has been producing quality knives since before he was born and my dad told me several stories about how he used/lost a few of is govt issued Bucks during 2 combat tours in Vietnam! I love Buck knives, but I just can't see spending that money when I can get an equally durable, useful knife that fits my budget better, assuming they will be more expensive than "standard" Bucks.

Here's my biggest question: Did the description for the Oryx knife say it had a "molle-compatible" sheath or a "mullet-compatible" sheath? My contacts are giving me fits today, can someone clarify?

man, i get worried when i agree with muddy. i don't care for shockey, or his show. the only time i'll watch his show, is if its one where his dad and father in law are on. those 2 old farts are hilarious
