Judging a Buck by the Picture

I love running trail cams and everyone in my family loves looking at them. I have been running trail cams since 2004 and have a lot of pictures. I prefer to run Stealth Cams but have found they all work fine. I have always wanted to get a deer I got pictures of and in 2007 I finally got what I wanted. I got pictures of this deer three days before I shot the deer and figured he would score around 130" so I wasn't too excited about him. Well when he came in and I got a 12 yard look at him I couldn't pass him up. Later after I scored him I found out he scored around 147" and was well pleased. I believe pictures take inches off a deer and your better off reviewing the deer in the field rather than making a decision from a picture you got. Here is the deer I shot and I hope you all have a great season.

Good deer, wicked brow tines. I have yet to shoot a deer I have pics of, but I haven't had a chance to run my cams like I used to either. Hopefully soon, I'm planning on running my cams during the season!

Thats so rewarding when you shoot a buck that you have been getting on your trail cam. Im hoping to do it this fall. Awesome pics!

I couldn't figure out how you got that buck to pose with your bow. :) Great history and success!

I too can't wait to shoot a buck I've gotten pics of -- a buddy of mine shot a buck last year I had pics of, over 1 3/4 mile from where I had my camera. Great buck by the way. He definitely looks bigger in your harvest photos.
