Keeping them around

Certain "mast crops" happen to fall outside the hunting season. While you can't hunt them, maybe they keep the deer in the area until other crops kick in.

I noticed that the deer were feeding heavy on a Mulberry tree along the lane. Put a cam on it and got just over a 1,000 pics in 2 weeks.

The sour cherries are ripe now. While picking a bunch to make pies this morning, I noticed lots of deer droppings under the tree. It appears they like them as well. I put up two cams pointed at the cherry tree, this pic will have to do until I pull a card. :D

I would give anything to have a piece of that cherry pie right now!!!
On a serious not tho, I have to agree- we have been doing and adding food plots for over 20 years now, and learned along time ago no matter what , there are So many week's and months out of the pre season and even the hunting season no matter what we add,/plant, there will alway's be so much natural brow's for the herd to eat and favor more certain time 's of the " pre or actually season "
I was so excited to get out and pick some wild black rasberries headed out today and the deer had already cleaned all of the berries off those area's Hopefully I can beat them to the upcoming black berry patches, Camera's set up at the pond -last night showed me the deer eating the leaf's on this darn willow tree, we tried to kill off earlier this past year ,
That and I am blessed to watch out the window's every night bean / clover/and corn plots surrounded by CRP fields the deer are feeding seem to feed in first over the foodplots right now, Not sure how many of you have Paw Paw tree's or Persimmons but if you do,They another food source area to keep your eye's on come August

500 pics over the sour cherry tree in the last week. Why did I choose this pic? Because the young buck is hanging with Mom and this year's fawns. I've got other cam pics of them and have seen them together in person. I find it odd that last years buck fawn is still hanging with mom.

Take a number, get in line. :D:D

Fair enough. I'll take #1 at the front of the line! :way:

My doc told me that homemade cherry pie was actually good for my shoulder recovery and should be a vital part of my PT as I work my way back to my bow!
