kisser button vs. peep site

I have been using a kisser button for years. Back when i started they had alot of trouble with peep sites turning and i didnt seem to hear anything good about them. Now it seems like they are on every bow i see. I just got a new bow and am trying to decide if i should try the peep. Just wondering if any of you have troubles with them and recommendations on size.

I feel it depends a little on the persons eye sight. I tend to go with the medium size peep. Sometimes for me, it can be hard to find my target with the real small ones. Also, you could keep your kisser button and add the peep. That wouldn't hurt either.

I have never liked a peep for hunting, just a kisser like you. I don't see much of an advantage in using one in most hunting distances anyway, say 40 yards or less. Plus they are hard to see through in low light conditions when a lot of shot opportunties arise. They may be helpful on the target range during the day and at longer distances but for hunting i just stick to a peep and it works great for me. Keep your anchor point consistent and you are good to go.

Put a peep on it, also u can put a kisser button on there if u think u will be more comfortable, but I highly recommend using a peep

I was exactly where you are a few years ago. Never used a peep, didn't want one, loved my kisser button, etc. Got a new bow, they talked me into trying one, and it unquestionably has tightened up my groups. I got a big one because of the low light situation, and because my eyesight is that crappy 40 something type. I still use a kisser button with it...couldn't imagine ever coming to an anchor without one. Give it a try and you will like it I think.

Match the peep size to your sight housing ,if it is round. Helps center everything up. Some center each pin in the peep. I center the housing. Helps to line everything up and be more consistent.

I use both. The kisser is used as kinda a anchor point. The peep I use a bigger hole simple reason I have crappy eye sight in right eye. Small one I cant see through. It definately helps no matter if it has a small or big hole. There is two different kinds one with a rubber tubing that when drawing the bow keeps it aligned and the bow string is split in two strands around the peep. The other has no rubber tubing and has three strands seperated on bow string around peep. So when drawn back and looking through peep sometimes you get a blur this is caused by one of the strands in the way of eye sight. I personally us the rubber tubing peep sight. Never have to worry about it not being clear looking through it.

Exactly what I do also :way:

If you are old like me :) you do not want a peep. I have bifocals and to see my pins I have to tip my head back and then my 20 yard target gets blurry. Keep my head down to see the target and can't see through peep and pins. Ok, go ahead and say it people.....hell to get old.

Try a large peep like 1/4 or 5/16 and center the whole sight housing. Works great and I have never had a problem even in low light. I'd stay away from the basket sights that split your string in three strands. Myself I'd also skip the tube. Set right, with a good string, the peep will come back right every time. I would say it would be less likely to fail you the a tube style.

I agree the tube will line your peep up the best. I however use one the splits the string in two and have no problems.

I have seen the tubing break or come loose from either end. Plus makes a loud noise every shot. I'm afraid of it coming loose and smacking me in the eye, is the main reason I choose not to use it.

It tightened up my groups going to a peep. I have never had a problem seeing through it, when I felt comfortable taking a shot.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm sticking with the kisser button this year. Maybe next spring I will add the peep and give it a try.

I like to use a large peep. At minimum 1/4 because the small peeps don't seem to let enough light through during last shooting light and can be hard to pick up the animal. As mentioned about, I also center my entire peep with my sight housing. I don't use a kisser button but many people I know use both a kisser and peep. Personal preference is all.

Hard to image a guy could be near as accurate without a peep at farther distances (50+ yards) as he could with one.
