Lab pups (Where from and fair price)

May try to talk the wife into a doggy....for my daughter. I'm not sure I'm caught up on the whole pointing lab but. We did have a lab and she did show pointing traits, she would point at and not chase the rabbits in the yard.

So where is a reputable breeder, for....um I like the chocolate labs, pointing bloodlines or not. Not interested in breeding do/will they knock some off the price? What is a fair price? Thanks in advance.

Kellogg's Kennels, Rt 3, Box 120, Madison, SD 57042-9353 (605)256-3496 Mayo Kellogg

I've seen some pretty impressive labs from there.

we got ours from a gal in clear lake, think we paid like $500 last year. he is a purebred registered choclate male, blocky head, broad chest, nice coat, dewclaws removed by breeder. I can find their number if you are interested.

I got harley(in the picture) for $100, In wapello. Nothing special in the bloodlines I didn't register him cause I had him cut, but he is the best family dog ever. Lays around the house all day. My one year old boy sits and pulls his hair and he doesn't move at all. He is 3.5 yrs old never has health problems, and is an excellent hunter. Always listens and want to please. I will never have a better dog in my lifetime than him. I don't think any certain bloodline will make a difference. But a friend of mine got his pointing lab in mount vernon and is a very good hunting and family dog. I would recommend that place but I'd have to get the name. He paid $400. Not too bad. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I figured right around $500 for any decent breeds. Guess I"m not to concerned about being registered or a "pointing", purebreed is a must though. More or less a family dog and someone to go on shed hunts with me. I would pheasant hunt alot more if I had a dog. I know labs are great family dogs so thats why going with a lab and not a "true pointer".

AJ could you send me that info if you get the chance?

i can make youa heck of a deal on a britney/cocker cross. it might point, or flush. should have a hunting nose. i have plenty of chocolates. shoot me your email and i'll send you a pic

It is kind of important, you wanna gaurantee of their eyes, hips, breed, etc. This is what you are paying more money for! I had a bad experience with my first lab, and I dont care to go through that again!

my next door neighbor just got rid of 2 female black labs gave them away they was both about 8 months old with papers they both went to a farm house....i talked to one guy and he said his lab (points)..

I have a one year old choc female that points. She just went out of heat early this month and I am planning on having her bred next year with a choc pointer. She will be hunted from the duck blind this fall as well as for pheasants. I have a pic of her training with a wing in my photo gallery. She has great ability and drive, and has also been super with my children (ages 2 and 5).

I just bred my female with my sisters male this summer. Pups are 3 weeks right now. It was her first litter. She had 9 chocolates and one yellow. Both parents are purebred chocolates. $200

Yeah lets see some pics JJ!

Papers? I think I will go with supertec on this one, hips, eyes, all those sort of things. Atleast some sort guarantee(sp).

I got a black lab pup about three years ago from a farm couple in Lost Nation. I paid $300 for him and he is a great dog, he is not oversized he loves to retrieve and has a great nose. I was not that concerned with his background when I first got him but when I got him registered it was fun to learn he had a great background with his great grand father being Champion Hawkeyes B R Buddy. He does have a lot of energy still. We drove by there two weeks ago and they had another group of yellows, blacks and chocolates. They are very nice people too.

Here's a few pics of the pups. They are 3 or 4 weeks old now. Should be ready around middle of Sept. Jada (my female) was 1 yr old this spring and weighed 72 lbs. Jinx (sister's male) is closer to 2 yrs old and prly weighs 80-90 lbs. Jinx is pretty laid back and Jada's always been full of vinegar. Both are great with kids. Sister has 3 kids. I'll try and get some pics of the parents.
