I have started my list and I will send it to you tomorrow Randy.

After thinking about the number of acres lost to leasing that I once had the privilege to hunt, I had to stop and take some anti-depressant medication.

This is important, so please everyone, take the time to respond.

So what are you proposing, more public land, end to leasing? I'm not sure what the politicians can do for you. I've lost ground too. Other hunters move in, it's just a fact. I've learned the best way to keep ground is keep the farmer happy and not tell all your buddies, they get jealous and move in, or tell somebody how easily you got access and the next thing you know is some idiot and their buddies are pinching you off. It is a supply and demand issue, that is America!

I happened across two guys looking at a NAW mag in a hall at work last week. I knew one of them, so stopped to chat. The guy I didn't know started talking about a certain article in NAW and how the guy had moved to Iowa, bought some ground and started leasing up lots of ground in the area. Seems he and his brother displaced many hunters (this guy included) and weren't real popular in the area. Maybe he was just jealous, though he still had access to neighboring ground where another deer in the same issue was shot. Funny how the deer looked real similar.

how much land do you own elkhunter?

I wonder what this is supposed to mean and why it was asked.

I have lost a lot hunting privileges on properties that I have hunted most of my adult life due to leasing or purchase, mostly in the last seven years.

All of these properties were in Adams, Page, and Taylor Counties. Total acres lost due to leasing or purchase 8,360..

I am not strecthing these figures at all. I have kept track of them over the years.

Most of the larger properties were leased by out of state outfitters.

I feel your pain Blake.I'm in the same boat.I've lost over 2000 acres in the last 3 years to leasing here in Clayton county.
I PM'ed Elkhunter with my details.
But why does some guy want to know how much land the guy who is doing all the legwork for us owns?

Often one can tell a great deal about a member by checking their profile.

I really wish you guys well in this battle. Us Kansans aren't faring too well... There is quite a petition circulating around the state to fire the current wildlife department head and to do away with tranferrable tags, we'll see what comes of it. It's good to see some residents standing up for their rights. Take a look at new legislation in CO beginning to limit non-residents more in point's-only elk units -- there's hope out there after all!
