Last/Next Weekend

So far, my predictions for October and early November are correct. For the weekend of the 7 - 8, I said we were going to see alot of does and small 1 1/2 year old bucks. That is what I saw all weekend. Next weekend, we will probably see more 2 1/2 year olds out and about. The whole list of weekends is on a post on the second page of the Iowa Whitetail Conference Predictions. Some may think I am too early but with the current and forecasted temps, I think I will be fairly close come later in October.

That fit my observations, too. Saw 7 deer on the drive to my spot (all out of the gravel road and all young does). Put in a all-day sit in the stand and only saw one young doe just before dark. Hopefully the boys come out to play soon!

An all day sit? In early October when it's over 80 degreez? Good God, you should have your head examined.

I would normally agree with that statement, but unless you're hunting a waterhole where you might pick one off coming in for a mid day drink, I will still say I think you need your head examined.

wow, I am getting antsy to get out of the tree by 9 oclock. It was all I could do to make it 10 oclock this weekend. If I wasn't doe hunting, I don't think I would be able to wait any longer this time of year
