late muzzleloader?

Hey guys..awhile back, I posted about how I hated people pushing woods during late muzzleloader while bowhunting was going on. There were people on here that told me that it was no big deal, as it wasnt against the law...Well I was bored at work and reading the regulations, and low and behold..there it said group hunting during late muzzleloader was illegal..so make sure you guys are careful out there, because it is against the law..just wanted to clear it up..thanks

I'm pretty sure a group of hunters can do drives but when a hunter fills his tag he's done hunting, unlike shotgun season when you can party hunt until all tags are filled. ???

Yep, party hunting is something completely different than deer drives.

You can drive deer, you just can't party hunt. Heck I have done deer drives during bow season with success. Nothing wrong with a slow push.

Let's get the whole paragraph on here so there's no confusion:

Helping Other Hunters
Resident and nonresident deer hunters with a
valid deer hunting license may hunt with and assist
other deer hunters only in the season specified on their
license. Party hunting is only allowed in seasons
where shotguns are permitted and the hunter has a
license where a shotgun is a legal method of take.

So people can do drives legally. Each person just has to tag whatever deer they shoot whether it be buck or doe.

Yep just cant shoot any one else's deer for them. And when your tag is filled you are done. There fore it is good to get a couple of doe tags. Group hunting and party hunting sound the same but are two different things.

I wish shotgun season was like that.

You wouldn't if you were the last of 9 guys with a tag in his pocket. My number 1 love is bowhunting, but our shotgun group has a great time each year, and I'd hate to think that the price a guy pays for shooting a deer is that we have to send him home. JMHO.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the part about once you fill your tag you are done is quite correct. The regulation says that you must have a valid license for the season involved, not an unfilled tag. When you bought the license it came separate from the transportation tag. I believe that even if you fill your tag that you can still assist but you can't shoot a deer for some other hunter. The way it has been explained to me is that as long as you purchased a license for say the Late ML season you have a valid license even after the tag is filled and you can still assist with spotting, driving , dragging, moving hunters from place to place or any other thing that is usually associated with hunting. It would probably be a good idea to not carry a gun while doing these things however just to avoid problems. :D

That is correct. You can continue to help others in drives, but you can't carry a weapon.
