Late rut to late season tactics -- mid day

Any thoughts on best tactics for late rut (later part of early season) and thru late season? Definitely food sources are good for morning or evening, but what about say 9 - 3? If that's the only timeframe you have?

Personally I wouldn't hunt mornings during late season. I only hunt food sources on evening sits. Too much of a chance to bump deer in the mornings.

I'll hunt morning or evening. Evenings over food, mornings near Bedding as long you can get in easily. I've had decent luck hunting between bed and food in the morning and catching deer going to bed. I'm the type that never says you can't hunt this or that timeframe or this or that weather. I go when I can.

The way our farm lays out is that late season is evening only. The deer are off the food well before shooting light so it is not worth the risk of bumping them for us.

If 9-3 is the only time you have it's going to be tough. I would say almost no natural movement from adult deer during that time period in late season. You would have to be really close to there bed to see any mid day movement imo. The deer tend to be herded up at that time and getting close to that many eyes and ears is tough to say the least.

If 9 to 3 was the only time available for me I would ditch big timbers and still hunt small sloughs and fingers. Even after the shotgun seasons of you move slow the deer will alot of times run 50 yards and stop.
