Late season tips?

Well I'm wondering what's the best places to hunt during last season archery. I still have my tag to fill and would like some tips. Most of the fields have been turned and a lot of the food sources are gone. So what should my plan be? Will be doing a mid day hunt.

What do you have for property? Are you planning on hunting property you already have access to, or are you planning on asking around?

Late season is hunting bed to food and food to bed. If you don't have food it will be tough. If you are hunting midday it will be tough. They simply dont move a whole lot midday unless it is brutually cold and they are forced to eat. That is about the only time I have seen true midday movement.

I would find an area to hunt that has food.

I have access to one area that is mostly timbers and grassland. I will be out mid morning and hunt in till sundown

Assuming the timbers and grass you hunt are bedding areas. Put yourself between the "stuff" where they bed. More than likely thick and\or secluded and what they will be feeding on without letting them know you are in the area. Entry and exit without getting busted, playing the wind, scent control, and locating where the deer are bedding and where they are feeding is key this time of year, Most deer have been heavily pressured the past weeks and won't tolerate human presence or will change patterns.

I'll be bowhunting late also. Was going to go today but this SW wind is terrible for where I need to be. I will be in a bottom that is a transition area from bed to food. It's the best bet this time of year. I wouldn't expect much in the mornings but the last 30 minutes in the evening are usually the best.

Can you tag a buck with an unfilled either sex tag from early archery, since its tadionally an "antlerless only" season? Assuuming yes since it lists the dates to use it right on the tag with no extra notes regarding late season....

You can fill a any sex archery buck tag during late season. Like you said, the season dates are on the tag.

Kind of a confusing question but with a statewide archery tag, you can fill either sex in the late archery season.....with your bow.
