I heard the DNR report for the city of Cedar Rapids and their car/deer hits on the radio yesterday. The reported number of hits went down from 500 the year previous to around 300. The city bowhunters that took the time to certify and pay money out of their pocket have taken 276 deer already. The DNR didn't know if the high harvest number had anything to do with the decreased number of related accidents. They are going to do a aerial population count to see if actual numbers have declined in city limits.
