i have a lohman (870) double chamber boxcall, a quaker boy sweet butternut boat paddle box call. h.s.strut super raspy glass, a quaker boy owl hooter. a m.a.d. silent locator (dog whistle, sucks, don't get one). a quaker boy push button call, and a quaker boy gobble shaker. and atleast 4 diaphram calls. i have ordered a custom zebrawood double glass/slate from andy kaiser, of kaiser kalls, and have maybe a half dozen strikers.

lets hear what you have, and what are you going to get for this year

Half a dozen Primos and Quaker Boy diaphragms, Old Yeller slate call, homemade slate call, two homemade box calls, push-button box call, Hammerin' Crow call, coyote howler, owl hooter.

Will probably add another slate/glass call and replace the diaphragms ... probably try the new green ones from Quaker Boy.

Two months to go!!!

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

quaker boy mouth calls
primos, quaker boy, h.s. strut, MAD friction calls
ben lee box call

i carry all that crap for a day or so and then i generally leave it at home and take an aluminum friction call for long distance calling and i will use my voice the rest of the time. gettin pretty good at callin' turkeys that way, cheaper and lighter when you're hittin the hills in jackson county.

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

I have tons of calls, but i always carry just one , a black widow slate call and a carbon striker and a wire stick stricker. i cant remember who makes the call but i think hs strut does.

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

My vest is packed with so many....I don't know where to begin. My favorites would have to be my Lynch box call and an Old Glory friction call.

Some people would think I am crazy for carrying all my calls and gadgets out in the woods in my vest.....but there have been many times where an old bird would pay no attention to most of the calls....and then fire up when I bring out something new.

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

used to be I would bring you as a call - now I bring you with the intention of getting something on film. the shooter doesn't matter to me as long as we get it on film I would be extremely happy. oh yeah and you can call better than me so you can be the caller too.

Quaker boy mouth calls are the best. My favorites are the screamin green series "lightning", and "world champ" as far as all other calls every company has a few good ones. I try to carry one of everything, mouth calls, slates boxes, push buttons, owl hooters, coyote howlers, gobble shackers, you name it. I look like a walking wal-mart in camo cus you never know what will trip there triggers on any given day.

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

100+ box calls, 80+ slate-glass-alum-ceramic calls, about 100 diaphram calls, couple dozen push pin calls, dozens of locator calls and about (2) 5 gallon pails of strikers. SO much knowledge and SOOOOO little time.

I'd have to say somewhere around 500 calls wouldn't be stretchin' it too far!

Oh almost forgot 20 new Quaker Boy diaphrams, 16 new Q.B. strikers, 6 new slate calls and a couple more waterproof box calls mysteriously showed up this week.

Its very hard to choose an opening morning call some years--One year it took me into 3rd season to choose a call

.Darn thing still didn't work--NOT. No I'm not a true collector--just a major CONSUMER. Manning out

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

Knight and Hale Ole' Yeller slate
Quakerboy Boatpaddle (pain to carry)
Homemade wingbone yelper
Various diaphram calls--mainly Cannon Country calls out of Mexico, MO

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

1) My own natural calling
2) diaphram calls primos and h.s. strut
3) Primos box call hen & gobbler sides
4) H.s. glass call with 3 diff.strikers

Owl call, crow call, goose call,a whistle w/ the ball removed(like a hawk),a homemade tube call, and the "where are you at call"(cell phone on vibrate

).
Funny thing is I don,t call a whole lot and I like my voice the best or diaphram call not to raspy.

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

All different kinds, but when the chips are down, it's always a raspy ole' Primos double diaphram call I refer to as "the cheeseburger". If I made it to my setup and forgot everything except the cheeseburger and my gun, I'd feel confident.

4-diaphram,1-box,1-slate,1-owl call,1-push button box call I think that is probably it.

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

Primos power crystal, the freak by primos, h.s. 360, blodgett road runner 2, and numerous mouth calls that I make sound like a sick chicken.

Re: lets start a tally, what do you have for calls

I mostly use diaphram calls and a pair of the old fightin purr boxes. This year I really want to call one with one the wing bone calls I have made. What a deal that would be.

A trusty slate and striker that has served me well. A box call that I have never taken afield. Some diaphragms that haven't been used for 4+ years, and will be replaced before this spring. I took a self imposed hiatus from turkey hunting (thought work was more important, silly me!), now I'm getting back into it.
