Leupold RX IV Rangefinder

I recently received this rangefinder from my wife for Christmas and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this particular rangefinder? I have been trying to set it up and use it around the house and I already have some concerns about it. First of all I can hardly see the displays due to the fact that the font is small and blurry. Also, I know I am just a dumb jock but I am pretty sure you have to have a PhD in astrophysics in order to know how to use all the features that this rangefinder has. I am sure it isn't all that hard to figure out but the fact that I can't read the displays really makes it hard to make things work! Do I have a bad rangefinder or is this a problem with this particular product? Thanks for the help!

They have a focus adjustment but I would think that is more for the optic image clarity rather than the display. Try tweaking that else you may want to exchange it for a different unit. I looked into those when I purchased mine and they seemed like a good product.

I would go to the store and look through another one. I do have to say though, I had a RX II and it was just junk. I'm not saying I didn't just get a lemon. I love there scopes, I have a bunch of them. I personally though don't believe all that ballistic BS. And it sure don't apply with a bow. So I just use a regular old Bushnell. I'd check and see if the display is tweaked or something.

I have heard the same thing about the Leupold range finders. I'm not sure what do believe about the true ballistics they give you. I have a Nikon myself and love it.

I have been using the Leupold myself to field test it and have been less than impressed. Way too many optional functions and do-hickeys that aren't necessary and actually impede performance. The tech guy at Leupold I talked with ran me through turning off almost all the extra functions in order to make it work properly (why have them if it won't work with them on?) I would recommend the Nikon's (smallest size and best glass in its price range.)

Another vote here for the Nikon rangefinders. Two buttons... power and mode. Power button turns it on, ranges the distances, and gives the option of continuous ranging by holding the button down. Mode lets you go from yards to meters. So simple even I can use it.

I would have to disagree I have the RX II and I have had no problems with it. It also only has two buttons, maybe try reading the directions it sure helped me.
