If you have great late season food sources I would say hold off for late muzzeloader. If your lacking late season food sources but have really good security cover and your property doesn't get bombarded during shotgun season. I would pick second season shotgun. It's More of a trial and error, unless you own your own property and can tailor it for what the deer need at certain times of the year. I bowhunt and late muzzy hunt our ground. As a large family group we shotgun hunt 2nd season on different tracts of ground that we dont bowhunt or muzzy hunt. It all despends on how much ground you have to hunt and how the Deer use that property during different times of the year. Hopefully that helped ya out a bit
If I had the time I'd do Late Mzloader. Deer HAVE to move then even the big guys to stay alive. If they don't move, they freeze to death. I'd be hunting over a field of bean stubble or blown down corn if you have access to it.
