Live from the stand. Part 4. 11/9/13. AM

Good morning gents. Today will be a bad day for big bucks all across the state I believe. :way:

I had something trot up to in the dark already. I could just barely make out an outline of it. It may have been a coyote judging by the way it sounded. I am on the downwind side of a thick area of bedding cover. This is a stand we do not often. But this is the time to go for it.

My son is about 300 yards away in a stand that overlooks two trails that bucks like to use when they are cruising.

Gotta go. Hear leaves crunching to my left. Sounds like a chase!

It's only breezy here and there are gaps in the wind. Squirrels are active this am, but no squirrel arrows will be released today so they are safe. There are two bucks in particular I would like see here this am. Both are 160's class nines. But I will gratefully shoot a random monster too. I've got a feeling about today.

Just had a top shelf classic chase in front of me...only was the chasing buck was a good looking two year old eight point. I saw a flash of brown about 50 yards on front of me and by I stood up up they were in my lap. Fun stuff. But I want a bigger to be chasing next time.

Just had a small 8 walk behind my tree. He did not appear to wind me. Right behind me the ground slopes away hard so they often do not pick us off here even when down wind. I think this ladt buck was the same one that chased that doe through here earlier.

I had completed a rattling sequence about 5 minutes before he showed. But it looked like he was out snooping and just happened by. Lets get some big ones up on their feet!

Slow going so far. Had a brief flurry earlier but overall not that great of movement. Beautiful day in the timber though.

Left at 830 to go get breakfast, neighbor farmer was out chiseling a corn field between the patch of timber I hunt and a larger one with a big straight piped v8 Massey Ferguson 4wd. He showed up at 6:30, he'll be there probably all day... Guess I'll just go drink beer and watch the hawks..

Soon as he showed up tho, a basket rack was in hot pursuit of a doe. I don't know if I'll get back this afternoon. Isn't going to do any good with that loud ass tractor running right next to the 8 acre timber I'm hunting.

My friendly 8 finally wandered off. Then I ra ttled and in came a pencil spike. Came right to tree. If I had a rock I could have dropped it on his noggin. Need a grown up to get up and walk around some.

My son just had two bucks in tight. One was a 130" 11 that he now has passed 4 times. I have passed that same one twice. I am going to have to name that one "Lucky" or "Stupid". I don't mind passing bucks but I have to have a limit somewhere don't I? 6 passes and then you get shot no matter what, just get his stupid out of the gene pool before they are all that dumb down here. .:D

I think I will put the 'ol horns together again and see what happens

One doe at daylight then nothing till about nine when a spike came along. About 930 a nice 8 cruised by couldn't get him stopped but appeared young from the little I saw of him. Doe with two fawns just showed up.

Nothing until 8:30. From 8:30-10:00 I saw 7 deer, 4 bucks. Doe and fawn together, single buck, then a doe chased by 3 bucks. Of the bucks, 3 baskets and a low to mid 130s 9 pt.
