Ok I am short on time tonight but I thought, "what the heck, it's November." And just went out anyway. I did see a nice buck cruising across a wide open field on the way here so let's take that as a sign one will happen by me tonight.

Not wanting to foul a good area tonight since i was so late getting out I am sitting in a stand we normally use for early season doe takedowns. While I am not in a prime spot I do have good visibility here anf I have seen buckd criuse this draw before. I am at the head end of a long timbered draw that goes up towards the road
Deer will cross the steep creek right below me when they do come through he re. They just don't come through here that much. :D

So tonight is a shot in dark and tomorrow I will get into a much better place early.

The wind had been pretty steady and then it died down and everything was calm and quiet and I was just enjoying the tranquility of nature when all of a sudden a closeby rooster pheasant popped up out of the crp cackling and scared the crap out of me! Just for that I may go pheasant hunting tomorrow instead of deer hunting.

It is nice to see pheasants though. After several years of habitat improvements I now have a fair number of them around. Give me a dry spring once and we would be loaded with them.

No deer spotted yet. But that is not a shock because of where I am sitting tonight. I can say in driving doen to the farm friday night and back home saturday night and then back herr this afternoon that we have seen darn few deer. Probably about 5 total.

Deer numbers are definitely way down from a few years ago.
