I am contemplating using a Lone Wolf Set up next year with the idea of hanging 4 primary stands and using the lone wolf to mobilize myself. I haven't seen it done yet so I am curious to know how long it takes you to get set up b4 you hunt and how long it takes to take down. I will be setting this up in the dark as well so I was wondering how easy it is. Any inputs will be appreciated.

4 sticks and the stand. once you get the system down it won't take very long at all. i think, on average, i was up and hunting in about 5-10 minutes. take down about the same time. i was more concearned with being quiet and most importantly safe rather than being up or down quickly.

I agree with muddy. I practiced with mine a lot prior to the season. My goals during practice were safety and being quite. I even practiced some in the dark in the back yard.

My practice sessions were well worth the time spent as I can get up and down from my selected tree very quickly and quietly. Four sticks, easy hang hook, hang on stand strapped in place, safety harness in place, and ready to hunt in less than 10 minutes.

I'm sure a lot of the guys here set up and take down in the dark when hunting public areas. I don't care to do that and hate packing a bunch of stuff with me first thing in the morning.

If I find a spot that gets me fired up I can be all set up in about 10 minutes. Super easy to set up and real solid. I'm sold!

Go for it definitely. They are worth it. I know they are a little pricey, but the stands are quiet and very secure and comfortable once in place. For sure go with 4 sticks. Gets you right up there and you can always use a step or 2 to get started if you want to go a little higher. Twice this year hung the stand and shot a deer. Take the time to learn how to hang it securely. Awesome stands, rumor has it I am getting a second one for Christmas.

The diversity of trees you can get into is awesome. The only bad thing is they can't be super huge. Advise - get the stand and 4 sticks and setup in your yard or someplace and take down. Then setup again and take down. Do this until you feel you are getting the hang of it pretty easily. Then try the same thing in your yard when it is dark. You will become pretty quick at it in no time. Good luck

So far I have seen no other product that works as good as the LW sticks. They stack and carry very nicely on the stand. I have used the Gorilla sticks which are very nice, but don't stack together as nicely as the LW sticks, especially on the stand.

Cory,
Lone Wolf sticks. Do you have any specific questions on the 05 stands or are you looking to find out if they are adding any? I can help but you need to be more specific.

There is no size limit to the tree, three foot extention straps can be bought to accomidate as large of a tree as you wish to hunt.

10 minutes for me and I'm hunting!!

Bought my first lone Wolf in 1990 and now have 6, I just love em!!

I've used the lone wolf alpha hang ons for the last 4 or 5 years. I use the easy hang J hook, and on occasion leave the strap in the tree. I've foud that the J hook / one strap alone will allow stand to shift from side to side if you shift your weight quickly. I've gotten into the habbit of carrying an extra strap, just hook it on the bottom versa buttom with the bottom platform folded up. It loads up the strap when platform is dropped. May take an extra 30 seconds but makes for a safer hunt. I also always check to make sure the J hook is fully engaged in the stand. My hunting partner hung his lone wolf alpha stand in the dark 2 years ago, got in, and 15 minutes later, the stand took a dive. Only conclusion was that the J hook was not fully hooked in and when he got on, it slide off the hook. Fortunately he was wearing a safety belt. Just my 2 cents.

What kind of features make the Lone Wolf products quiet. Are there metal buckles or anything that 'clink' or 'clank' when setting up?

Whens the 05' stands come out for viewing? Are they lighter, better seats, larger? Are they worth waiting on? Buckye has all stands and accesories 30% off, If im going to buy a LW, nows the time!

Limb,

Hows the 3ft extensions work? I looked at the lonewolf site and dont seem to see them there.

Thanks
Don

Well I am certainly not Limb

but I think I can answer your question. LW does offer 3ft' extension straps for the stand and sticks. They are the same as the straps that came with the stand and sticks only longer. Simply remove the regular straps by taking the loop off the versa button and then put the loop of the new straps over the versa button. Change them back to the regular straps when you use a smaller tree. I hope this helps.

On LW web site you can have them send you a catalog of the products they have to offer. Complete of course with a price list.

Blake,

Thanks for the reply. I see replacement belts on the site for the sticks but it doesnt say anything about them being longer. Ill have to ask for a catalog as im interested in these and a footrest for my hang-on.

Thanks

Don

Don...the belts are the same length, you need to get the extention straps for the belts, that is what gives you the extra length. They are looped on both ends to attach to the existing strap and the versa button.

Yep. the three foot extension belts loop in with the other belt and you can add as many three foot straps as you want. I had to use the strap plus two 3ft extensions on one tree this year. They aren't on the website but if you call them they will send em to ya. I think they are in the process of updating the site. Which could be a while, their new price list has them listed.
