Lone Wolf Versa Buttons

SCOFFIN

After I got done tinkering with my Gorilla Sticks the other day and modifying how they attach to the tree, I got to thinking how I can make my Rivers Edge stands attach easier to the tree. I hate those seatbelt straps and the hooks they connect with.

I was wondering if anybody has done any stand modifications using the Lone Wolf Versa Buttons and utilizing their strap to hang another brand of stand? Any success stories out there? Or is drilling holes and modifying a perfectly good stand something you would advise against? I was also considering modifying my Gorilla stands in the same manner.

It just seems like a way easier way to hang a stand to me and I could get them tighter to the tree at the top and bottom with a system like this.

Thoughts???

I have had great success in my lone wolf sit and climb combo. I have never tried to modify a climber, I would recommend making sure that when you drill holes into you gorilla stand that you do not weaken the stand. Would not want it falling apart on you when you are in the climber.

The stands I'm looking to modify are Hang-on's.. I was hoping that adding buttons at top of the post under the seat and then down by the platform, I could make them easier to hang as well as get them tighter to the tree to reduce movement and noise. Both the Rivers Edge and Gorilla just use one strap to hold them to the tree and both of them wiggle some at the platform. The gorilla are a single post design and the Rivers Edge are a twin post design. I would add 4 buttons to those and only 2 to the Gorilla.

I guess that would be a benefit as well. Unless drilling holes in them would be advised against. I assume the holes would be in that 1/4-3/8's inch range and I would use a strong bolt to attach the Versa Button with.

If drilling the holes in the post would be too much and weaken it, I suppose I could have the bolts welded in place to make up that strength..

im sure modifing the structure of the stand in anyway is going to be frowned upon...But I like your idea. Im guessing you can buy the versa buttons from LW. And just bolt them up. Sounds like a great idea. I love how tight I can get my alpha to a tree...so tight I have to loosen the strap sometimes.

IF you get this to work, please keep me posted. I have the same concern with my Gorilla Silverback. This past week, back up in Iowa, I was wishing I had invested the money up front in a LW, after monkeying around in the dark.
