Thanks to BloodBro.com I am the proud owner of a new alpha assault. My one question is how you guys hook it to the tree? Do you use the "prong hook" that comes with it or do you just use the knob attached to the stand?

Hope you know what I am trying to say?

I use the EZ hang hook, then i put the straps on the versa buttons as well. This way i have 3 thing holding the stand to the tree. Don't know if this is "correct" but i like it and it works great.

I think i read that you're not suppossed to use the batwing and the EZ hang together. I always have, anyone know why you're not supposed to do this?

bushman I have never heard that. I hope it isn't correct. My wife uses the hook and lower versa button. I use both the versa buttons and no hook. DOR you are going to decide you're more comfortable one way or the other. I think you'll get a wide range of responces from members here. The only one that counts is mine so there you have it! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

All you have to do is read the directions. Both versa buttons or the hook and the top versa button. Very simple.

I usually prep trees / lanes early on and attach a strap/hook to the tree at that time. Then when I am hunting it is easier for me to hang the stand on the hook (especially mornings) and then attach a second strap to the versa button. I do not know if this is the best way but one that seems to have worked fairly well for me so far. No real close calls (falls) yet hanging or taking down.

Read?

I didn't find the cluster book of directions to helpful.

I use the hook and the top button.

I find it easier to hang the stand with the hook rather than trying to use 2 versa buttons.

Jonny and i used the hook and button all fall with no problems....
and we are fat

I second that. It feels much more secure/solid this method imo.

I use the ez hook it is the whole purpose of the stand to me. Using the versa buttons makes it no different than any other treestand out there to me because you still got to hold the stand in place while you strap it on. Either way works.

Take the hook up the tree with you as you climb.......Position it around the tree......pull the stand up and place on hook.......with platform in "up" position wrap strap from bottom versa button around tree and tighten.......push platform down and climb in.........solid as a rock.

I need to resurrect this thread because I'm trying to plan my attack now that the Alpha has arrived. To me it appears the hook would be very convenient but that using both versa buttons would be more solid. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever experienced even a single time where stand has come off the hook after the initial setup?

Whats the major advantage to the hook? Just the fact that you can "hang the stand" and you dont have to hold it 1 handed while trying to attach the strap?
