Looking for Help

After a couple of years of applying it looks like me and my two hunting partners should draw tags to bow hunt Iowa in 2007. We would like to not have to use an outfitter and are thinking of hunting public ground. We are looking at the Yellow River State Forest area in Allamakee Co. Being from PA, we only will be able to get out a couple of times to scout. Is this area worth looking into or should we focus elsewhere?

Having lived in Pennsylvania for 4 years I can tell you that northeast Iowa will look a lot like home. Plenty of deer.

Send me a case of ynglee's (sp?) and we can talk!!!

Seriously though, you could do a lot worse. Its a pretty decent area!

There's one less buck in there for ya.

A guy in my group shot one that wasn't doing so good thought it had been shot by another hunter. Must have gotten hit by a car cause he was all road rash and very skinny.

Oh did I mention he was a 10x8 w/ 2 broken tines.
