I hunt near Lovilia and the quality of deer there is isn't any different there than in any other part of the state. One thing that I have noticed is that ever since the Lovenstuen buck was harvested, the pressure has gone up dramatically in all of Monroe county. I can't even recall how many times I have been disturbed while hunting from other hunters. Also, because that buck was shot nearby, the land prices are outrageous and much more expensive then some counties just to the North of there! For some reason, people think that just because one big buck is shot in a county, that there are WR's running around everywhere, but they need to realize that this is Iowa, and not always as great as everyone makes it out to be! There is not a Booner hanging out around every corner.
