I have been selling off all my in-line muzzleloading firearms and am returning to hunting only with the sidelock firearms. I picked up this Lyman Plains pistol the other day. Can you image the challenge of harvesting a deer with this firearm?

I am looking forward to it!

Speaking of belt hooks for pistols, I've used them in the past but still never really felt good about using them. I always felt there was still a good chance of dropping your weapon.
Here's what I've come up with to carry mine hunting this season. The sling is simple to make and easily removed. I used it out squirrel hunting awhile back and access to the pistol is fast and easy. Just be sure to put in on last.

Cool looking gun . That will be up close and personal pointing that at a deer. What range could you use it at ??

I feel pretty confident at 30 yards.
Ron's percussion should do better than that because it doesn't have the heavy hammer and the frizzen slapping open when you pull the trigger causing the gun to move in your hand.
