It's been a long haul since 1st shotgun and my last opportunity to hunt. That all changed with the surprised squeal of one of my co workers. Immediately I went on the hunt. I had to dig down deep to my high school years in order to outwit this monster with my trapping know how.

Knowing full well that the gray hair phase indicates a young'un I knew that I had to keep my wiles about me, and this morning it paid off. This guy made the mistake of coming across the floor and then holing up under a filing cabinet. We put the boot stomping on him with a well executed drive. My buddy killed it, I tagged it, Iowa party hunting at it's best.

We are fully aware that we have yet to catch up to the cagy brown haird mature ones, but we're on it.... oh yes, we're on it.

:way:

Great pics and story. Felt like I was there with you while reading it. Sounds like you have some good prospects for next year too. Congrats on sealing the deal.

:D

best post ive seen yet on here!! haha, I just saw Ted Nugent talking the other day about if all the other game animals were to somehow disappear and he had nothing left to hunt, he would hunt mice.... You my friend are a hunter :drink2:. BTW how much would you charge for a guided hunt?

glad to know you can outsmart a mouse!

I won't lie, I'm kinda surprised

:D

Well, I gotta say we're getting close to cleaning the whole family out. Here's another gray back, my bet is that the brownies are nocturnal and we'll see what tonights sets bring. This harvest pic is a little blurry as my buddy isn't the best at harvest pics, he only took one whereas I took 148 of the other ones...still, it gets the point across.

None of this offends me unless of course your buddy is from out of state. No need in out of towners coming in here and having locals tag their mice for them! Its only a matter of time with this damn internet before the whole world knows what kind of mice we have here in Iowa. :D

All that have done the killing are residents, no worries and no need to get contact legislators.

The worst of it is the late season factor. Too hard to tell if you're dealing with a buck or doe.

...worthless fact #4392, male and female mice are in fact called bucks and does.

Some one has a little extra time at work.:D

Stick with it, you need to let the little ones walk if your ever going to get a true trophy.

Just a thought.

Those harvest pics may be a bit graphic" for some people's tastes. I'd recommend carrying some rags with you next time to wipe the blood off the hide in order to clean them up a bit. Also, the one photo doesn't appear to have come from the natural environment (table, lock, tray etc.) ....Possibly next time an under the cupboard photo may be more suiting. Remember, you're liable to view the photos for an entire lifetime, you want them to be as classy as possible, makes for better memories.

You mean the picture with the mouse dead at the feet with it's brains smashed on the floor isn't classy? ;)

Just saw some of these state-of-the-art hunting loafers at Bass Pro.
They call them "Vermin Stealth Stompers" For the hunter who doesn't have time to tie his shoes. Made with Scent Lock Technology. The heel actually has a Cheese Whiz dispenser built in to lay a scent trail and a "Blood & Brain Resistant sole really puts these loafers in a class of their own! :D

This is true, you also may want to get your face in some of these pics so we know you're not just stealing them from another site and posting them here!:drink1:
