mechanical heads

I know this has been brought up alot, but I am wondering what the highest speed a mechanical head should be shot at? My bow shoots around 305 fps and was curious if that is to fast for it to open? Thanks for the help

It will depend on the BH. If you are shooting Rocket BH's with the little rubber bands, you will want to put an extra rubber band on to ensure that they don't open in flight. Vortex probably don't require anything different. Spitfires probably don't require anything different either. If in doubt, call the manufacturer. Have a safe hunt!

Nothing is completely straight forward. I would practice with the actual broadhead exactly as you plan to hunt with it. I found that several (including the Spitfire), would partially open and cause erratic flight. If you put a piece of paper on your target you will see what the broadhead position was when it hit the target. If it's closed, the hole should be similar to the closed broadhead.
