Everyone,
This site has grown tremendously over the years, and the amount of knowledge and experience it gathers from its members is by far second to no other Whitetail website around. That being said, I'll be the first to say thanks for making it what it is.
To be honest, I don't visit many other sites on a regular basis......why should I, everything I need seems to be located here, and if I can't find an answer to a question all I need to do is ask.....kind of like a huge search engine in my opinion. For those of you that DO frequent other sites, what are some of the things that keep you coming back to them? There's always ways to improve a product, not matter how well you think it already works. We'd like to make sure we're always improving, not just maintaining.
What are some things you'd like to see improved on the site? What are some items not currently available that you'd like to have? What would you like to see more of, and at the same time less of?
We'll probably never be able to give away an African Safari Hunt around here, but sometimes it's the little things that matter most. We'd love to hear some feedback from you guys and gals.

Although I do not see these as necessities by any means, here are couple ideas after some brief thoughts:

1) Taxidermy section - whether in the form of ideas or a place for examples of differing displays/forms can be shown for future reference when someone is thinking about a upcoming mount (upland, big game, turkey, varmits, etc). This could also be a place for advertising/contact data to be listed also.

2) Product reviews - this probably is a little reduntant with the Tech Talk area.

3) Weather conditions link

4) Game recipes forum

As I stated before, the forum summary as listed now is about the right length but these were just some ideas. After you get some ideas gathered maybe a poll would be in order.
 
I pretty much visit this site and ArcheryTalk when I am on the internet.

One feature I like that Archerytalk has is when you are looking through a forum you can position your mouse over a post and it will show you the first 5 sentences or so without clicking into it.

It is kind of a nice feature, but not necessary by any means.
 
I've always thought a monthly drawing for prizes would be nice. Nothing big, but just little items such as bag targets, custom turkey calls, decals....things like that. Limit it to the PMA members only, and that would also encourage others to join. Just my opinion.
 
I love the idea of a food forum. Recipies, preperation, butchering. The posiblilities are endless. Another vote for those two; sounds like some neat ideas.
 
How about a forum for everything but hunting? Seems to always be a post or two about things other than hunting.

I like the taxidermy and game recipe forum also, maybe we could have some input on there from some of the taxidermist that visit and frequent this site, like the proper storage techniques of yoru cape, birds, etc. and also pics of varoius different mounts/forms with a detailed explanation of the benefits of that form.

The other sites that I visit are generally archerytalk, mainly just for to look at the classifieds since there are thousands of things on there for sale.

I particularly like a few waterfowl forums (I don't think this is the place for a waterfowl forum however).
 
For sure a recipe section would be great. And I like the PMA monthly give away. You could probably pay for one small item a month with the memberships you would gain. Worth a try at least. If it gets too costly it can easily be stopped.

Too be honest, whatever you guys can buy, and put an iowawhitetail logo on it, WE WILL BUY IT. Maybe try a few more options like gunstocks...you probably easy get them logo'd. And maybe a line of sweatpants, or even logo'd pocket knives. I got lots of ideas. Some of that stuff might be out there, but just an idea.

Also, I think it'd be cool to have a yearly bow shoot (website members only) kinda like the shed hunt.

I think it would be awesome to hold more activities for members to! The shed gathering is an awesome time and a great group of Ia Whitetailers, but it seemed to break up early and there wasn't near enough time to visit and get to know one another better. The Classic is usually the same, great to see everyone but so much to see and so much going on I don't get time to do much but say hi. An anual camp out or bow shoot would be a great time to meet some of the members and maybe get to tell some stories and share more than we can on a computer screen. I also like the taxidermy forum idea and maybe even a trapping/predator hunting forum would be educational. I like the bow shoot and the recipe ideas. 2 or 3 man teams and you could bring alot of prizes to the table with a $15 entry per team.
 
I know you think this is dumb Critr cuz of the ass beatin' you always seem to get when I'm around, but, how about a golf get together every year. A 4 person best shot tournament or something less formal. I think there is quite a few guys on here that play or just like to make the rounds, plus its a way to get together in the summer when there aint much goin on. I like the bow shoot idea also! I agree with the above, I don't think once a year hanging out with you clowns is enough!!
 
GOLF TOURNEY! HELLS YEAH!!! Tee em high and let fly. I can see it now. We could do some damage to a course. We'd have to find a new course every year, as we'd be banned every year.

I love the site. But the monthly give away would certainly be a way to draw new pma members!

What ever happened to the journal thing?
