Missouri Trout Season Opens March 1
More than 8,000 anglers are expected to turn out for the opening day of trout fishing in Missouri.
Gov. Jay Nixon is expected to be at Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon for trout fishing's opening day Tuesday.
Other hot spots on March 1 are Roaring River State Park, where a couple thousand trout anglers are expected. The day is so significant there that it's a no-school day in nearby Cassville.
The first day of trout season also will be observed at Montauk State Park near Licking and at Maramec Spring near St. James, a privately owned park with a trout hatchery managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation.
The department estimates the weekday opener overall will attract around 8,400 anglers.
