Mock scrapes

Haven't "opened" any yet. Usually wait until late September to mid October. I've seen evidence of a little use at these, but have most activity at natural scrapes. However, I only have so many cameras, so not all get watched constantly. My usual set up is a scrape line along a food plot, hopefully with a natural scrape in the line. I put them about 50 yards apart under the same type of trees I see natural ones under in the area. Usually dig at the ground, spray with Power Scrape, hang a dripper, and spray a licking branch with HS Lickin Stix (can't find this anymore). Debating whether to mess with this this year, or just focus on mock rubs.

The mock rubs are most effective with licking branches for scrapes. After awhile when they get loose in the ground the bucks spin the tree around, making the whole area around the tree one big scrape. I used to pack them in everytime they got loose, but now I believe the more they move and shake the better they like it.

They definitely get hit hard, and IMO the more there is to "mess" with the more they like it. Here is what one of mine looked like by mid September last fall. I actually bungeed the limbs together so they wouldn't rip them completely off. They are a blast to put cams on, and a great way to inventory the bucks on your farms :way:

I haven't made any yet but use to lay one down in late June every year in a staging area, field edge or fence row. I always had great responses even that early and always relieved my self in them after I made them! The 1st time I did it years ago I had 6 or 7 different buck checking it starting the next day, two dandies.
